Entourage 2004 and 10.4.6

We upgraded the OS on a G5 from 10.3.9 to 10.4.6. After the upgrade
Entourage no longer works. We get an error -3176 whenever we try and
send or receive mail from our Exchange server. The message indicates
that the server can't be found and that the DNS settings are incorrect.
None of the settings have not changed. I can ping the Exchange server
successfully from this computer. Any ideas?

I suspect that in the transition from 10.3.9 to 10.4.6, some of the
system settings were not preserved (binding to Active Directory, WINS
server and SMB settings...). You might also not be using the same DNS
server.

What ahppens if you use the IP address of the exchange server instead of
its name ??
Can you connect to the Webmail page through your web browser ??

I took your suggest of changing the Exchange server name to the actual
IP address of the server in the Entourage settings and that resolved
the problem. Thanks!
It seems like this is a problem of name resolution but Entourage
literally worked before I upgraded from 10.3.9 to 10.4.6 and didn't
work afterward. None of the settings had changed, same DNS server etc.
so I'm not sure why it quit working.

I'm glad it worked,
It seems like this is a problem of name resolution but Entourage

As I was saying, it might be some of the settings in Directory Access
that need to be made again after the upgrade to 10.4 (WINS server for
instance or Active Directory),
