Entourage 2004 and Exchange 2000 Synchronization Issues

Recently we have had several folks using Ent2004 experience an issue

That was posted way back in July of last year, and I was not able to find a
response to it anywhere.

The basic issue is that Exchange acts like it is synching to Exchange 2000
via the OWA server, but it hangs at some point, prompts for the password,
and when you put the password in it just gets caught in a loop and does the
same thing over and over of prompting for the password and never completing
the synch.

Where I work (UCSF) we have had a few people start to report his problem, so
I am very curious if others have had this problem and how they resolved it
(we have yet to find a solution that we can point to definitively, in that
it just mysteriously goes away for some people). I would like to know if
it's an Entourage or an Exchange issue and where I should start looking to
resolve the problem.

Had (and am still having but less fequently) the same issue. Followed a
guys response in here to delete the keychain element and re-enter
credentials for Entourage and all seemed ok for 2 days. Then it went
stupid again. I was using a mail.exchange.com but then changed to ip
address and it seems(today at least) to be working.

I've no idea whether this is Exchange (im using 2k) or Entourage
issue...but if we make enough noise hopefully someone out there will
hear and help

This could be a keychain corruption issue. You should launch the
keychain app and run the keychain first aid (command-alt-a in Tiger) to
repair it,

So far as I can tell it is a combined issue of network congestion an
poor IIS performance, and Entourage not recovering from the timeout

The reasons I believe it to be so:
OWA runs perfectly, MAPI clients have no problems, Perfmon on Exchang
yields no bottle necks in any Exchange process. Entourage will connec
after restarting the app.

The important things to remember here:
Entourage does not sync via OWA, it uses WebDAV. WebDAV pulls on IIS.
think the WebDAV connections are susceptible to timeouts.

Other neat notes:
One person can DoS your IIS server providing WebDAV access to Exchang
2000. That is, I have had 80 users all tell me nearly simultaneously
They are all getting the password loop again
