Boy,
I have had a wonderful week full of suprises. I have 10+ systems using
Panther and Apple Mail for email connectivity to a POP server. I have
been assigned the task of finding a way to get those users over to
Exchange from Apple Mail. For the Windows machines running Outlook
2000 or higher, the task of installing Outlook 2003 and reimporting a
backup of their PST to thier new Exchange mailbox was time consuming,
however it was pretty simple.
When I began migrating the first Mac client system to Entourage, I was
able to get the account to see the Exchange server, as well, it saw a
179MB of mail from a profile that was stored on the system. I believe
this was archived mail as it only held mail from 2000 - 2003. The rest
of the mail imported into a Mail Import folder which was kind of
hidden in the list of folders the user had for mailbox storage. But,
that was where the imported mail was.
I attempted to copy the folders over which held all mail from 2003 to
present over to the Microsoft Entourage client inbox. When I copied
these messages, they were all given the date of 11/8/2004 @ 3:13PM. So
it seems that there isn't a way to retain the original time stamp on
the mail messages when importing.
Does anyone know of a way around this issue? Is there a import tool
that can be used to further automate the process? I saw a article from
earlier this year that states Microsoft and Apple do not support
upgrading from Apple Mail to Entourage but that was Entourage X. I had
thought that they might have resolved the issues with Entourage 2004,
but it doesn't appear they have.
I appreciate any feedback and / or assistance anyone can share to help
me through this.
Thank you,
Patrick D
