Entourage 2004 and Exchange Server 2007

I'm having trouble hooking up to the Exchange server at work. I keep
getting an error that indicates my username and password are wrong.
This is clearly not the case since I can log in via web access into my
account. I have tried as many combinations as I can think of to get
my account settings to work. Any suggestions? Thanx.

Verify your setup with this
<http://entourage.mvps.org/exchange/exchangeatwork.html>.

I would suspect that if your name and password work with Outlook Web
Access (OWA) then you may have some sort of secondary authentication
process that you're not mentioning or your domain name may be wrong.

Hope this helps!

Hi Stephen!

What have you tried so far? Have you looked at the above link? Can you
log in via Outlook Web Access (OWA)? Does your password require any sort
of SecurID token or non-standard means of authentication?

I have been through the set up process a couple of times, and keep
coming up with the error message during verification:
Verifying Exchange account "raym" on "exchg.hq.cbi.org":
Verification Failed: "HTTP error. Access to the resource has not been
authorized." (-18599 )

The domain is what I was given by our system administrator. I have
read elsewhere that I need to install a root certificate that is
exported from the system, is that true?

Thanks,
Ray

Hi Ray!

When you say you can access your account via webmail, are you
specifically connecting to your internal Exchange server mentioned above
or a different external address?

Test your web connection by specifically connecting to
http://exchg.hq.cbi.org (you may also need to select SSL). Does that work?

I access my account through https://mail.worldventure.com, not the
address I provided you earlier. That address exchg.hq.cbi.org is the
address my system admin gave me to point Entourage to (that was when I
thought it would be as simple as entering and synchronizing -- silly
me!).

As for doing http://exchg.hq.cbi.org, that doesn't work either....

Thanks for your help.... any other ideas?

Hi Ray!

Sorry for taking so long to respond. I've been out of town on business.

After re-reading this thread I need to specifically ask if you're trying
to connect to your Exchange Server from within your company network or
from outside your company network.

If internal then the "exchg.hq.cbi.org" address without SSL selected
should work as far as I know. (Our company is not yet on Exchange 2007.)

If external then the "https://mail.worldventure.com" address with SSL
selected should work.

Also, verify with your Exchange Server administrator that your Exchange
Server has Legacy Applications software installed. Have a look at a
recent blog post of mine on The Entourage Help Blog
<http://blog.entourage.mvps.org/2007...egacy_applications_software_for_function.html>.
I suspect this is the problem.

Hope this helps!
