Entourage 2004 and Exchange Server

Jeffrey Rothchild

I have entourage 2004 running on a mac, and I cannot get an exchange
account setup to receive the data in the exchange acount. I have a PC
on the same network that connects and syncs to the exchange server
just fine.
When I try to setup an exchange account in Entourage, I get an account
verification error like bad username/password. I am trying to use the
same account that I do on the PC - thus syncing the mac and the PC
using exchage (this is my goa).

I have also tried using ip addresses insead of the domain address
requested by entourage.

What am I missing here?

please help.

Thanks!!!

I had similar problems when I tried to set up our computers in my office
with Entourage 2004.

I ended up having to skip the "assisted" set-up and put the information in
manually. Each time, Entourage would open and I'd still get an error message
saying something like "can't find the server". I'd say OK, work offline.
Then I'd go under the "Accounts" button and manually make the changes. It
seemed to worked for me after that.

I apologize that I'm probably not to clear, but I'm working from memory.

Good luck,
Jim

I had to email our IT folks, and they gave me an entirely different path to
the server, one that had the word <entourage> within. I had also tried
duplicating the PC info and every permutation I could imagine, to no avail.

Hi Jim,

Can you access the Exchange server using OWA on the Mac and PC?
If you have OWA working enter the same URL in the server field. It could be
something like this: https://exchangeservername/exchange
If its https: ensure you have checked the Dav service requires SSL under
the Advanced setting tab.

Tell me how it goes..

I've done both. The enhanced interface on the PC is better the the basic on
the Mac, though - via Safari.
