Entourage 2004 and "forgetting" account information

One of the most ANNOYING things I¹ve encountered since upgrading is that
Entourage will intermittently prompt me for the password to one or more of
my accounts, as if it lost the password information. I always re-check the
account information, and the ³Store Password² checkbox is on.

Has anyone with multiple email accounts noticed this?

I've had the problem in the past (several times). It was usually because of
corruption in the system keychain. In MacOS X 10.3, imply open the Keychain
app and press command-alt-a, then select "repair", enter your password and
run the process.
If it doesn't fix the issue, you can try deleting the corresponding entry in
the keychain itself. Once you relaunch Entourage and save (again) the
password, a fresh new entry will be created.

Hopefully it will fix the issue for you.

Do you also sometimes get ³BAD PASSWORD² or ³Authentication Failed² in the
Error Log?

I will certainly give your suggestion a try. Thank you.

I've had a few Bad password issue lately, but it was mostly server side
problems. In your case, it reinforces the feeling I had that the keychain
could be involved. If the entry is corrupted in the keychain, no matter what,
Entourage first send the bad password from the keychain (which fails) and
then prompts you for the password (since the other one failed).
I will certainly give your suggestion a try. Thank you.

I hope it'll fix the issue for you,

Forgive me if this is a basic OS X question...I¹m still learning my way
around it...

I started to do as you suggested I¹m concluding that I have to do the
process for each keychain entry?

No problem, don't worry,

Repair repairs all entries in the keychyain. If it doesn't work, you have to
delete the entries you have problems with (there is no reason to delete the
other ones).

While this repair keychain seems to work, this ³forgetting² account
information seems to be happening more frequently in Entourage 2004 than it
did in Entourage X.

Just an observation.. :)
