Entourage 2004 and HTML

Hi everyone!

I'm a little confused.

Does Entourage 2004 support HTML or not?!

This morning I received an email from Geico where on my PC it looked fine.
On my Mac in Entourage 2004, the text in some of the tables looked Arabic.
Not all the text though. I've seen this problem before in a number of these
HTML type emails. I just kind of let it go thinking maybe the email was
glitchy, until my boss put a PC on my desk. Now I can switch between the 2
and see the difference.

If I forward the email in Entourage 2004, which changes everything to text,
I can actually read what looked Arabic.

Any idea what may be causing this?

Thanks!
MM

Dunno if this is THE fix, but have you checked the default text encoding
you've set in your preferences. This might need changing; others here will
have probably better info.

As for the forwarding issue that changes the message to text, I call this a
bug. Others here have given other reasons for it, but IMO, an email program
of Entourage's class ought to be able to retain all HTML and graphics in
their intended presentation when forwarding/replying to any such message.
Such, however, is unfortunately not the case.

FYI, to forward such an email and retain the presentation, you must select
"Forward as Attachment." This is a suitable, if not desirable, workaround.

Check what encoding (character set) is selected under the 'Format' menu -
there is a default setting for this for messages that fail to declare a
character set.

If that doesn't work, can you post the headers from one of these mails? It
is likely something non-=standard in the headers.
