Entourage 2004 Attachments Window

In Entourage Vx if I set my attachments window (box) open, every new
email I bring up has an open attachments window. In Entourage 2004,
each new window comes up with the attachment window closed and I have
to click the triangle to open it. I can find no preference that will
allow the window to be open at all times. Is there a way to do this?
Script, perhaps?

Not the only one it's happening to, but maybe the only one who sees it as a
problem!

I for one, don't want the attachments pane taking up space if it is not
being used. Files can still be dragged onto that 9or any) part of the
message window to attach them, so why would I need the empty pane to be
open?
