Entourage 2004 - Does it permit sub-folders under contacts / addresses?

Entourage X did not permit sub-folders. I have over 1200 contacts
arranged in 7 sub-folders under Outlook 2003 on my PC at the office.
I need corresponding folders under Entourage 2004. Could someone tell
me if they have added this feature to the product? Thanks.

No, but it sounds like you could achieve the same result using categories,
or by using projects.

Cheers,

You just need to learn how to do things in a different app. You can get the
same things as "separate folders" (Entourage doesn't have anything called a
contact folder) in both Entourage X and 2004.

Assign all the contacts in each of your 7 subsets their own category
corresponding to whatever you called the subfolders. It's perfectly OK if
some of them also have other categories, and you can decide which one you
want to be "primary" displaying the color. What matters is that they each
have one of these 7 categories, displayed or not.
'
Then make an address book Custom View for each of the 7 categories:

Item Type: ˆ Contacts [only]

Match if any criteria are met:

<Category> <Is> <No.1>

(or whatever it's really called)

Now each custom view (which can have the same category name) is a separate
address book. It can have all the columns you like to have in the main
address book. It's dynamic - as soon as you add a new contact and assign it
the same category it will appear in this custom view without your having to
even drag it here. Any change you make to the contact - whether you've
opened it from the main Address Book or from the custom view - will be
reflected in both places since it's the same contact.

No, they haven't. If you would like to see it added in a future version of
Entourage, be sure to send your feedback to Microsoft. In Entourage X or
2004, go to Help -> Send Feedback on Entourage. Otherwise, click on this
direct link to enter Mac Product Feedback:

You can easily use categories to subdivide your contacts into subsets. The
fast filter (upper right) lets you view by category almost instantly.
