Entourage 2004 - Exchange 2003 not connecting

First time posting in this newsgroup so be gentle!

Ok client has just purchased Entourage 2004, previous Entourage X working
fine on same MAC.

Problem is during the Assisted email setup for Exchange, it argues about
cannot find server, giving error code -3176 THE SERVER CANNOT BE FOUND

The MAC has the local DNS server (same server as exchange 2003) in its
network properties, using the network utility the DNS name and IP address
correctly resolve to this server.

What needs adjusting/patching at either end of this equation?

I couldn't find exactly what this error number corresponded to. It could
well be a DNS issue though.

Yeah, but there are sometimes other tricks played by the DNS. Did you
try simply entering the IP of the server instead of it's name to see if
it works ??

Is the domain in which your Exchange server lives in your System
Preferences/Network/<interface>/TCP/IP/Search Domains? Try adding it and see
if the assistant works better.
