Entourage 2004 hanging

Ha! Last night I made a posting - came back this morning to see what
wisdom you all had for me and it seems to be a (slightly) different
group. So at risk of doubling up - can anyone help?

I have Office 2004 running on my iMac G5 (10.3.9) with several family
users.
I just auto updated my Office 2004 with the latest downloads.
All seems to be working with my account.
But when my wife or my son log on, they just get a blank Entourage
frame with the dreaded spinning ball.
No way out but to force quit.

Anyone know a work around?

Many thanks,
Richard

It is possible they have a corrupt (or conflicting) font in their user fonts
folder.

Get them to log in and fire up the 'font book' application, and disable any
duplicate fonts that they have in their user fonts folders.

Hey Barry,
Thanks from down here in Australia, but I'm afraid that is not the
(only) cause.
We cleared about 60 duplicate fonts from each user but the problem
persists. Presumably the duplicates came from the MS update - why
would they do that? Do you know what else was in that update (11.1.1)?
There was also an anti-spam thing too.
Any clues?
Regards,
Richard

You might also try settng Spotligh to NOT search the Microsoft User
Data folder, usually located in the Documents folder. Spotlight cannot
search the Entourage database, but it keeps trying. For me that was
resulting in lots of hangs, spinning beachballs and disk activity.

Go into Spotlight preferences and click the "Privacy" tab and add the
Microsoft User Data folder. It might help.

Thanks for the thought but I don't think OS 10.3.9 has spotlight.
Is there an equivalent for the OS I'm using?
Much appreciated.
