Entourage (2004) Lost everything

I hope someone can help

I've just turned my ibook back on after leaving it off for a few days and now
entourage doesn't work. When I first turned it back on the symbol in the dock
had a question mark over it. I tried to move this to the desktop and then the
whole thing disappeared. I've tried searching for it and not found anything
at all.

I have reinstalled a version of entourage but it has forgotten all of my
settings (to send and receive emails) and has lost all my old emails which I
would really like back.

I have looked in the microsoft user folder and its in documents but the
database folder is effectively empty and now I am completely out of ideas!!

It doesn't look good. Applications shouldn't disappear like that. You
might want to reboot on your MacOS X install DVD and from the menus, use
Disk Utility to repair the drive (don;t install anything after that, you
can select the boot drive from the menus and quit the installer to
reboot).

That's usually the sign that the Identity is not in the Microsoft User
folder in the Documents folder. Either it has "disappeared" (same
problem) or you moved it. If it is the alter, move it back where it
belongs,

I agree with Corentin that this doesn't sound good. When you turned off the
iBook, did you kill the power or did you use the Shut Down command?

Is the Office folder still in Documents?

Do you remember installing Entourage's auto-update? That's how I lost all my files. I didn't move folders around, or "accidentally" delete anything. I just powered my laptop as you did and ........nada mas.
