There is a PST Import tool for Outlook:Mac files available from
<http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx?pid=download&location=/mac/down
load/office2004/pstimport.xml&secid=4&ssid=15&flgnosysreq=True>

To move the files to local storage, simply create a custom view of all
messages older than a certain date, then select them and use the 'Move'
command to move them to a folder under the 'on my computer' hierarchy.

This will leave them available to entourage, but no longer in the exchange
folder system.

If you want to remove them from the entourage database as well as from the
exchange server, then drag the folder to the desktop, where it will create a
..MBOX mail file that can be read with a text editor, or re-imported easily
at some future time if necessary.

Entourage X has a 4 GB limit on the Database file (there is no Messages
file), and you will be warned as you near the limit. As you finally get
close enough, it will force you to compact your database. You'd have to work
really hard to lose data with Entourage X.

Entourage 2004 has no size limit, just a limit to the number of items in the
Entourage database: 2 million database items.

You can relocate the database file itself, or (preferably) the full identity
folder, or even the entire Microsoft User Data folder to an external drive.
Just copy the file/folder over there, then replace the original with an
alias pointing to the copy. Make sure the alias is named EXACTLY like the
original and all will work well, providing the drive is always mounted when
you are running any office app.

The 'Microsoft User Data' folder is in the user's Documents folder. Within
the MUD folder is an 'Office 2004 Identities' folder (or, 'Office X
Identities' if you are still running Office vX). Inside the identities
folder is a folder for each identity the users has created. These folders
contain the database and various other support files.

I would advise moving the entire identity folder to the remote location as
the best option - don't try to move just the Database file and leave the
other support files in place.
