Has anyone heard whether the 4GB max database size has been increased or
eliminated, or is it unchanged?

It has changed to a limit of 1 million database objects, no size limitation.

as far as i know, the office update 10.1.2 increased the database
limit to 4gb. the current update to office 10.1.5 and it apparently
contains the service pack 1 that was in 10.1.2...thus it should be
still limiting to 4GB.
