Entourage 2004 Performance Question

J

John Irvine

Can anyone now using Entourage 2004 comment on its speed, particularly
when rendering HTML email messages, in comparison to Entourage X?
Faster? Slower? The same? Is navigating between messages still
relatively slow as it is in E X?

Also, bonus points if you can tell me if it can reply to a LiveJournal
message from within the email message itself. Apple Mail and
Entourage X are both unable to do so.

Thanks!

I¹ve found performance to be about the same...maybe a little snappier.

Hardware: PowerBook 17², 1.33, 2 Gb RAM
OS: 10.3.3

I think the entire suite is a little faster than Office X. So far, I haven¹t
run into any of the strange errors seen in Entourage X (e.g., ³Error 192²,
I think, was a common one).

Try a search of some text in the message body of messages in a folder with
1000+ messages. Entourage 2004 is somewhere between 10 to 100 times faster
than Entourage X- it feels closer to 100. Let the number of messages build
up to over 10,000 (many people do). In X, all of Entourage became slower
until you deleted half those messages or so (depending on memory and CPU)
You won't even notice it in 2004. In X, I'd have to delete my thousands of
mailing list messages every week or so. In 2004 I can forget about them for
3 months and still not notice any difference.

PLEASE always state which version of Entourage you are using - **2004**, X
or 2001. It's often impossible to answer your questions otherwise.
