Entourage 2004 - skip to next unread message

In Mozilla Thunderbird I could press the 'n' key to skip to the next unread
message for both e-mail and newsgroups.

How do I skip to the next unread message in mail folders and newsgroups
messages in Entourage 2004?

Try using the space bar.

Try using the space bar.

Pressing the space bar works, but not all times though.

If unread messages are below from where you are reading, pressing the space
bar does not proceed to those unread messages. I have to use Shift+CMD+O to
view the unread messages to read them.

Is there a setting in Entourage 2004 to disable the single key read by
spacebar?

Is it possible to show all messages (unread and read) in the discussions
that contain unread messages?

I appreciate your help on the space bar answer.

Thanks.

Pressing the space bar works, but not all times though.

If unread messages are below from where you are reading, pressing the space
bar does not proceed to those unread messages.

It does if you're reading a folder where the "next" message sorted by the
Sort (Arrange By) order is top-to-bottom. E.g. if arranged by Sent with
Oldest on Top, then pressing the space bar moves to the next message below.
Id arranged by Sent with Newest at Top, then it move, as you say, to the
next message up. Just use the Up-Arrow key to move up in this case.
I have to use Shift+CMD+O to
view the unread messages to read them.

That's to view "Unread ONLY". There's no view of "Read Only" (unless you
make your own custom view for that). No matter which setting, you will
_always_ see unread messages.

Just leave the view at the default, which is to Show All (Read _and_
Unread). If you've previously set it to Unread Only, just press Shift+CMD+O
a second time again to change it back to View All. It's a toggle, Then you
can leave it that way if that's how you want it. It remembers the last
setting the next time you come back to that folder. Every folder can be set
individually whichever way you want it.

Here are my View settings for Entourage:

View - Preview Pane - Below List
View - Arrange By - Conversation (Show in Groups - selected, grayed)

The behavior is different in Entourage 2004 compared to Thunderbird 1.5.

When I read an unread message in Entourage using the above View settings, I
noticed the message moves to the top of the conversation rather than
remaining in date order within the conversation. This is very annoying and I
do not see this odd behavior in Outlook 2003 (Windows) nor Thunderbird 1.5.
Is there a way to prevent this odd behavior of reordering the messages
within the conversation?

Thanks.

I found that I need to toggle between these two key combinations. I guess
this also depends on how you are viewing messages in Entourage 2004.

Thank you for the tip.

Try using the Control - ] and Control - [ keyboard shortcuts.
