Question for the group:
I've read as much as I can about what limited information is available about
Office 2004, but there's been no mention of whether or not support for
Exchange mode in Entourage will improve or not. Has anyone heard anything
about what is being planned or is in the works for improving Exchange
support?
Specifically, I'm curious about the following areas:
* PST support,
* Browsing the Global Address Book WITHOUT using Check Names,
* Ability to connect to other users' Exchange calendars,
* Ability to check users' Exchange calendars to see whether or not they are
busy,
* Support for Exchange public folders that have calendars,
* Being able to set permissions for individual mailboxes (i.e. Give other
users on the domain the ability to send mail on their behalf), and
* Create Out-of-Office messages that are stored on the Exchange server, and
not require Entourage to be running 24/7 in order for it to work?
On my campus, we have a number of band-aid workarounds, such as using
Outlook Web Access, Outlook XP through Citrix, and Outlook for Windows, but
things like these are becoming a bit frustrating for our Mac users here,
especially now that 10.3 and Outlook 2001 are really not getting along
(apparently this is a bug in Outlook 2001 from the Googling I've done).
Is anyone at liberty to say anything about Entourage 2004's upcoming
changes?
Thanks,
Jason
