No. This is not an option; in the current version, you must click "Download
pictures" each time.
Bear in mind this is a security feature: Downloading pictures and other
HTML-driven files can trigger responses back to the sender -- and you
wouldn't even know it. This contributes to more spam because the sender
then knows the email is valid and thus the address could be worth more.
One of the MVPs on this board said that though a feature could ostensibly be
added (in a future release) to make the "Download pictures" management a
preference item, it would be unwise to do so, for it really does open up
spam's can of worms. Moreover, it only takes a quick second to click the
"Download pictures."
IMO, what might perhaps be a compromise is to add "Automatically Download
Pictures" as an available RULE that users can create -- such that email from
a known good domain would be handled automatically.
Yes, more crafty users could apply that rule to every incoming message - but
at least then it would take a reasonable level of Entourage knowledge to do
so -- and it wouldn't be a universal, easy-on preference that would do
nothing but then help the spammer community.
Honestly, I don't AT ALL mind clicking on "Download pictures"; when I see
spam with all sorts of red Xs in it, I'm glad I'm not confirming my email
address back to anyone.
Perhaps you might think about the matter that way.
