Entourage 2008: Login Startup leads to database corruption

Has anyone heard of when choosing Entourage 2008 (12.1.9) as a Login
Item it usually leads to a message about a corrupted database or shared
libraries not being installed?

If Entourage is not selected to open at login/startup, there is no
problem.

Thanks for any input.

Exactly what item are you adding to login items? Is it the application or
the database?

The program application in the Microsoft Office 2008 folder in the
Applications folder.

It loads in the LOGIN after MY DAY and Microsoft Database application.

And for that fact, why does the Microsoft database load automatically at
Login?

Thanks for any help!

If you hover over it you will see it's the Microsoft Database daemon that's
launching. This is what is used by Reminders/Notifications.

Personally, I don't like Entourage launching in login items, but it
shouldn't be a problem.

Neither do I but it is what the user wants.

Any other ideas?

It's best to keep all conversations on the forum so everyone can learn and
contribute.

You need to eliminate the Identity as the problem.

1) create a new blank Identity and see if it will launch OK from login. No
need to even enter account info.
2) If this works, next try adding account info and schedules as set in
current Identity. If this works, it indicates problems in the database
itself. (set to "keep on server" for testing)

Steps to help determine where the problem is located.

1) you can eliminate your Identity by creating a new Identity in Entourage
and see if you experience the same problem.

2) if a new Identity still exhibits the same issues, then create a new User
in System Preferences and test Entourage there.

3) If the problems still exist in the new User, it's a problem with your
Office install or your base OS files.
