Entourage accessing strange server address

For some reason that I can't figure out, Entourage 2004, as I receive
mail from all my mail accounts, is also often trying to connect to a
server (ldap.four.11.com) that I've never set up an account for. I only
see this in the "progress" box.

Since this server address is nowhere in my accounts, I don't know how I
can go about deleting it. Did some sort of bot attach itself to my email?
You hear of these shenanigans for PC, but never for Mac.
Any ideas?

It's in there. Click the Directory Services tab. It was an old directory
service account that was autocreated back in the Outlook Express timeframe.
I don't know the last version of OE/Entourage that used it, but I believe
it's defunct now. You can delete it out of those accounts.

Great! What are all the others in there? There must be 10, like
"bigfoot", etc.

Also defunct, also from years ago. There were 4 that shipped with OE 5 and
Entourage 2001, and have been imported when you upgraded to successive
versions. As the internet became more active, these services couldn't cope,
and no longer exist. You may have added some others way back when. The only
directory Services that work now are ones on (usually, company) servers on
which you have an account. I haven't heard of any others to which you could
subscribe by paying a fee but perhaps there are a few. You'd know if you had
one of those though. Delete the rest.

PLEASE always state which version of Microsoft Office you are using -
**2004**, X or 2001. It's often impossible to answer your questions
otherwise.

Yes, I've upgraded more than a few versions. Thanks for the info!

Bigfoot is defunct as well. I don't know about all the rest. If you've not
added them, then they're probably _very_ old.
