Entourage "Add New Event" appends date to year

Mac Entourage 2004 (11.1.0), Tiger 10.4.2

Invoking the add new event calendar command for a date yields a dialog
box in which the start and end dates show a year that consists of the
day of the month concatenated to the end of the calendar year. (For
example October 12, 2005 shows a year of "200512" and Feb 1, 2006
produces "20061". This is a recent problem but I cannot clearly
associate it with any particular update. I have verified the database.
I have not yet uninstalled and reinstalled (and updated) Office and
would like to avoid doing so if there is a simpler way to fix this
problem.

it´s seens this problem it´s associated with Date format. I used it wit
Brazilian Portuguese date format and all new events it´s spread o
another date.

I must work with North American Date format

Thank you so much Minsai. I had a custom date format set in the date
and time system preference, and resetting to United States fixed the
quirky Entourage Calendar events as well as incorrect dates when trying
to print monthly calendars. Extensive prior troubleshooting had failed.
I previously had reinstalled and reupgraded office 2004 and the strange
behavior persisted. Deleting Entourage preference didn't help. My
identity database checked out ok, and the error was also present with a
new identity. Your suggestion is a lifesaver.
