ENTOURAGE ADDRESS BOOK DOWNLOADED FROM OUTLOOK

C

Christopher

I recently converted from a Windows XP based PC to a Macbook Pro and had my Outlook address book downloaded and transfered to my Macbook.

The address book was successfully transfered (names, emails, addresses, etc), but each and every piece of data has a quote mark around it.

For example, an email address looks like "[email protected]" instead of [email protected].

Is there a quick fix for this, or shall I continue to delete the quote marks manually, which is similar to watching paint dry.

First of all: do not use ALL CAPS - they are the digital equivalent to
screaming and is considered rude in newsgroups.

To answer your question: one solution would be to export your address book
as a tab-delimited text file, which you can do through File>Export. Open the
resulting text file in a text editor, do a find/replace on that file (Find:"
Replace:[nothing; leave this field blank]). Save your file, then re-import
it into Entourage using the File>Import command and choosing "Contacts or
messages from a text file".

I haven't tried this before, but it should work. If you're not sure, create
either a new Mac OS X user account or a new identity in Entourage to test it
first (the import process, that is; the export process requires you to be in
your current user account with your current Entourage identity running).

You might try these options in a new Identity in Entourage to see if it
imports without the quotes.

Convert Mail from Windows to Mac

_cal>

To create a new Identity in Entourage, under Entourage in the menu bar
select Switch Identity --> New
