Just bought a new imac. Would like to transfer my Entourage address
book database from old computer to new one. Believe it is stored in
Library folder, but where exactly? How can I get my old Entourage
Address Book on my new computer? Thanks.

If you just want the Address Book, open Entourage on the old computer. Under
File in the menu bar, select Export --> Contacts to a list (tab delimited
text) Save to your desktop.

Drag this file to your new computer and select to Import the file.

No, it's not in the library folder, it's in the MUD folder (That's the
'Microsoft User Data' folder in your Documents folder).

Specifically, it's in the 'Office 2004 Identities' folder, in the MUD, in
the folder named after your Entourage identity ('Main Identity' by default).

This folder contains all your mail, contacts, calendar events, accounts,
tasks, notes and everything else, all rolled up in one large Database.

Simply move this whole MUD folder to the right position on your new iMac and
all your data will be transferred.

Hi,

Thank you for your post. I just bought a new MacBook Pro and am
trying also to transfer everything over from my PowerBook G4 to my new
computer. I looked where you suggested for the MUD folder and found
it on my old computer, in the Office X Identities. I put it in my new
computer in MUD, Office X Identites, and it didn't work. I'm worried
that there is confusion on the new computer. There is also another
folder called Office 2004 Identites, and it has a Main Identity too.
Everytime I open Entourage, I get the welcome email, and there is no
sign of my accounts. I even went to "switch user" and that was no
help. Do you have any ideas? That would be so helpful.

Thanks,

Jennyacorn

Entourage X Identity MUST go in the Office X Identity folder. Entourage 2004
can import those emails into Entourage. You cannot put Entourage X
Identities into 2004 Identity folder and it work.

What version of Office do you have installed? Are you perhaps running the
Test Drive version of Office 2004?

Look under Entourage in the menu bar "About Entourage" and see what version
is running.

Removing the Test Drive has been problematic for many users. See details
here on how to remove:
