Entourage and Exchange 2000

I am trying to get Entourage to see and Exchange Server over a VPN
connection. Everytime I try to connect I get a message that the
network is not connected. I can ping the server both with and without
the extention. I tried putting the server IP address in the server
name field. Mac Mail works fine using IMAP. I am out of ideas,
anyone have a thought of what to try?
