Entourage and Exchange Server - LDAP OK - SMTP NO

T

Tom Anderson

Using a VPN to get to my company.
Wanting to use Entourage for mail from company - no problemo - LDAP
configuration setup went fine - as soon as I used the right Exchange server.

Now I want to reply to some of those message I get to read. Here there is a
problem.

Company does not want SMTP. Has configured Exchange server. What do I do?
Trying to find this out from IT, but it is a PC centric group and no Mac
support to be had - other than supplying us with the VPN client.

Maybe someone can tell me what to sniff around looking for as far as servers
are concerned, or a gentle way to ask IT the right question.

Thanks,

Tom Anderson

If your IT department isn't actively preventing SMTP on the network, that
you can simply configure and use your own server.

The easiest way to do this is using Postfix Enabler:

Or you can try a third-party SMTP service like:

Of course if your IT department is blocking SMTP altogether, there's not
much you can do.
