entourage and isync: group "entourage" events only?

B

braver

I've created a bunch of movie events in iCal with the group name SIFF
(for Seattle International Film Festival), with movie times. Then I
enabled Sync Services in Entourage to sync it up to an Exchange server
and propagate to a Windows Mobile device.

While Contacts and Messages synced OK, the Calendar in Entourage was
empty. Then I noticed that in iCal, there appeared a new group,
"Entourage." If I switch an event from group "SIFF" to group
"Entourage," that event then shows up in Entourage's own Calendar.

Is this the rule -- do I have to manually include the events I want
synced from iCal to its group "Entourage"? Is there a way to add all
events in a time range, or certain other groups, to that sync group?

Cheers,
Alexy

Yes, that's right. In order for your iCal events to appear in Entourage,
they need to be part of the Entourage calendar. It's not very convenient,
but that's the way it works. If the events you have entered all have a
common text string (such as a common title, or a common location), you can
perform a search in iCal, then select all the items in the search results
pane by clicking the first entry, then shift-clicking the last entry, and
then assign them to the Entourage calendar by ctrl-/right-clicking the
selection and selecting the Entourage calendar from the contextual menu.
