Entourage/Applescript help please!

Alan Barwell

I want to be able to archive mail coming into an account automatically. What
I would like to do - unless it's too complicated or there's better ways! -
is for Entourage to automatically file incoming messages into dated folders
based on the date received. That's easy enough using a rule, but I'd like to
be able to leave it unattended if required and create a new folder when
necessary, ie when we go into a new month I want Entourage to create a new
folder for that month and divert incoming mail there instead. Could any
Applescript/Entourage experts help me?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

1. You say "by date". But you mean "by month", not by day, it seems, right?

2. I imagine you' want the folders to be listed chronologically, (2004-01,
2004-02, 2004-03, etc.) rather than alphabetically (2004 February, 2004
January, 2004 March)?

3. If so, are you in Panther or Jaguar or earlier? It's simpler in Panther.

4. Do you want these all as top level folders, or subfolders of an "Archived
Mail" folder, or subfolders of "year" (2004, 2005, etc.) subfolders of of an
"Archived Mail" folder?
