Entourage Automatically Deleting Messages!

B

If anyone knows anything about Entourage, please help!

All of a sudden, Entourage began deleting my messages automatically! I
see things update into my inbox, then 2 seconds later, it draws a line
through the message and deletes it!

I never changed any settings and how no idea how this happened. Please
help! I can provide more detail if need be.

Thanks!

Do you have an Exchange account?? I would suggest checking all the Rules
and Mailing List Managers. They sometimes get confused and move messages
to the wrong destination (sometimes the trash - sometimes a folder "on
my computer" and the original is moved to the trash).

I have the same problem, and additional questions.

I take care of several Macs with Entourage 2004 connected to an
Exchange 2003 server, each with their own little idiosyncracies.
Moving to wrong destinations and to a local folder seem the most
prevalent. Seems to happen after all-to-frequent rebuilding of
databases.

I've checked through each user's Rules and Mailing List Managers. No
new rules or MLMs have been applied (the program is new to us), so I'm
assuming they can't be corrupted (ha ha). Is this something I should
check on with the Exchange Administrator (external tech support)? Or
is it a problem with the individual Entourage clients on each
workstation?

Thanks!!

When you checked the Mailing List Manager (MLM) rules, did you check the
folder destination selected.

It's very easy to set up a MLM rule by accident, when you are marking a
message as 'not junk'. The wording of that dialog is ambiguous to say the
least.

Are you sure the messages are deleted, or are they misfiled?

Use a custom view to find messages to see what folder they are in. "Received
since launch" and "Received today" is a good place to start.

Well that's the problem.
Rebuilding the database is a little more drastic for Exchange accounts
than the other ones. Entourage doesnt even try to recover anything: it
trashes all the local Excahgne cache and forces the app to re-download
everything from the server the next time you launch the app.
The problem with this approach is that the Rules and MLM then have no
folder to send the files to and usually default to whatever folder they
can find then (usually the inbox "on my computer").
Please, do check and reset the Rules and MLM for Exchange accounts after
a rebuild,

Well I don't see what the admin could do unfortunately,
