Entourage bandwidth hog

M

Miles Stumbaugh

Our work DSL was slowing down. I got Verizon on the phone. Verizon
determined that someone's computer was uploading 700kb constantly. Changed
wifi password. As Verizon monitored, one computer at a time was turned on.
As it turns out that one of our Macs Entourage (exchange server) was hogging
the the bandwidth. We turned on and off while Verizon monitored it.

Any help?

You're using hosted Exchange, which means you're synchronizing the
mailbox across the Internet and your Internet connection.

I suspect the problem is that the Entourage user has a *huge* Inbox and
probably needs to pare it down to less than a couple of hundred messages
at most (preferably a lot less).

Have a look at my blog post for some other ideas and an explanation of
what I'm describing above:

"Optimize Entourage to better work with Exchange"

or <http://tinyurl.com/56ea7k>

Hope this helps!
