Entourage Calendar wrong display!?!

F

Felix Schwabedal

Hi all!

Appointments entered in the Entourage Calendar are displayed an hour later
than they are specified.
If I enter an appointment for ten o'clock, in the calendar it looks like if
it would take place at eleven!

Is just me against Entourage, or are there others with the same distorted
perception?!?

Thanks a lot,
Felix

Generally this means the time zone on your computer and the one in Entourage
prefs don't match.

This is almost certainly a mismatch between your time settings, your time
zone settings and your entourage default time zone.

First, go the system prefs, time & date. Make sure you have the right time
zone set. Then, make sure your clock is showing the right time and check
that the Daylight Saving Time setting is correct.

Now, check that entourage has the right default time zone setting in the
prefs for new calendar events, then quit and restart entourage.

All should now be OK.

Jesus, you guys are quick!
Thanks Barry, thanks Dave.

But,
It didn't fix it. I changed both time zones to various similar time zones,
synchronized times and it didn't do it.

My problem is that if I double click on the appointment, it shows the
correct time specification and in the calendar visualisation it is always
one hour late.

And the best thing is still to come:
If I drag an appointment that is actually specified for ten and displayed as
at 11 o'clock, say, from 11 to 9, it automatically slides to 10 and if I
double click it, it says, that it is specified for 9!!!!

I must admit,
THIS IS DRIVING ME WILD!!!

(iCal gets it right, but that's not what I bought Office X 2004 for)

I just wonder: there's a bug in Panther's AppleScript that all German
morning times compile to afternoon (0:00-11:59 Uhr --> 12:00-23:59 Uhr).
It's the "Uhr" that does it. Now this isn't the same thing, but it's
possible that Entourage uses some AppleEvents or Apple date calculations
here, has some sort of error mechanism that doesn't expect this bug and so
deals inappropriately with it. Does anyone else with German Entourage see
the same thing?

But I think it's more likely to be this: In System Preferences/Date & Time,
do you use "Set Time Automatically"? That can only be done successfully if
you are on broadband, always connected to the internet. If not, and you set
the time automatically, you'll be set currently to summer time, but since
the time is changing very soon to winter time, most of the events you're
making may be for winter time, one hour out. Entourage's default Time Zone
does not allow for winter/summer settings. I think you might find that when
the time changes to winter time, all the winter events will suddenly appear
correctly in the calendar.

Thanks for taking so much time, Paul.

I'm still driving Jag, so the first explanation can be ruled out.

Following your second explanation, appointments that have taken place two
weeks ago should not misbehave like the ones for next week. But they do.

I'm clueless.
Maybe it is still some summertime/wintertime thing...
We'll know tomorrow.

Thanks for your help, everybody.

The first answer I got was right.
It was a matter of time zones.

What I didn't know was, that time zones are individually set for each
appointment. So adjusting the time zone for the program didn't fix the
problem for the appointments entered before having made that change.

Thanks,
Felix

Correct. Once they're made, they're made. You'd have to change the time zone
for existing events separately.
