Entourage can't get incoming email.

I have been using this program successfully for about 2 years. About 5
days ago I was no longer able to receive emails on Entourage, I use
Hotmail. The program would start normally, show how many email were
to be received and then the blue whirling line at the rt. bottom of
the screen turned into a white line with the number of messages to be
downloaded remaining. I can sent email through Entourage although it
takes longer for them to leave the out box. I can still access all
email by going to Safari and using Hotmail. I can also link to the
Internet with any mail links in Entourage. I have tired erasing my
password and re-entering it(same password). I have set up a new
account which assured me all was connected and accessible and
downloaded all previous messages until it got to the same point and in
the new account the exact same symptoms occurred. HELP!!! Do I maybe
need to reinstall-sounds like PC talk-and if so how? Any other
suggestions. Thanks so much Marilyn

Are you perhaps using Entourage X? Is this a free account

You can still send your Hotmail from Entourage X but you can't receive it.
Upgrading to 2004 fixes the problem for free accounts.

deleting some messages that were apparently hanging up Entourage it is
now working but I can not get the messages to go into my Entourage
folder the all go to MSN and stay there.
Before the problem with no email to Entourage they would load through
MSN and then move into my folder on my computer-all a part of
Entourage. Any suggestions? Thanks M

deleting some messages that were apparently hanging up Entourage it is
now working but I can not get the messages to go into my Entourage

I don't use MSN accounts so can't say for sure, but it sounds like a setting
in MSN that allows you to forward your email to Entourage.

This doesn't sound like a corrupted Account in Entourage, but you could try
deleting it and creating it new if you don't find the answer in your MSN
setting.

If you are still having problems, use tcpflow to monitor the traffic to see
what Entourage is saying to your MSN account.
