Entourage can't see some of the emails on the Exchange server'sfolder; why??

My workplace is running the Exchange Server. I am using Entourage vX on a
Mac to access the inbox and other folders. Mostly, it works fine. But, every
once in a while I notice a discrepancy between what I see in a given folder
using the Entourage client and what I see using OWA (Outlook Web Access,
which allows me to access the Exchange Server email through a web browser
interface). The web clearly shows me a few emails in one of the folders that
do not appear in Entourage. What's going on? Why the discrepancy? Why would
Entourage not show me emails that exist on the server?

I've seen that on a few occasions and I found two ways to fix it:

1) complete rebuild of the dtabase (and all the mails have to be downloaded
in your account in Entourage again) - press alt when launching Entourage
2) delete the account in Entourage and re-create it (and all the mail have to
be re-downloaded as well.

It's painful, but that's the only way I found to fix it :-\

Hi,

I've seen that on a few occasions and I found two ways to fix it:

I would first try repairing the message list. In Entourage X, you simply
open the folder and then press Option-Command-L. In Entourage 2004, the
procedure changes in that you need to Control-click the folder and select
"Repair Message List" from the contextual menu, but I'm not sure that option
is available for Exchange folders in 2004.

To be quite honest, that has never worked for me in the past (but you never
know). Beside that, I'm not sure you can get it to work the same way in
Entourage X.

Interesting; I've never heard of this. It isn't listed in the Help (I did
a search on "repair message list") - how did you learn of this keystroke?
Also, does it say anything when you do it? I tried it at home (admittedly,
there are no bad folders there) and pressing option-apple-L doesn't seem to
do anything (no error, no beep, no action). I'll try it on the bad folder at
work tomorrow, but will there be any sign that it is doing anything?

This newsgroup. :) When I was using an Exchange account in Entourage X, I
depended on this keystroke, since Entourage's cached copy of the message
list seemed to be out of sync with the actual contents constantly.

It still isn't documented in Entourage 2004, but it does appear in the
contextual menu, which is a step forward.

Well, the missing items might appear. And, if you keep the progress window
open (Window -> Progress), I think it will show some activity on your
IMAP/Exchange account.
