I cannot figure out why entourage cannot send an excel document. I can
send a text dcoument with this version of entourage but not an excel
document. The computer is an eMac running panther. Any ideas would be
appreciated. I am stumped on this one.

You don't say which version of Office you are using, but how to do it is
similar.

You have to add the document as an attachment. You can do this in
several ways:

1) In Excel, with the document open, select Sent To -> Mail Recipient
from the File menu.

2) In Entourage, create a new mail message and click on the paper clip
button in the top of the window, and then select the document.

3) Drag the Excel document's icon to the icon of the Entourage
application (in the Dock in Mac OS X).

There are other ways but they are the top three.

What are you talking about? How have you tried to send the Excel document,
and how do you know it doesn't send?

See Matthew's message on sending attachments. Add to his 3 what I consider
the simplest way:

4) Create your new message in Entourage, then drag the Excel file from
wherever it is located in the Finder onto the message window, and release
the mouse.

(Also, just for the record:

5) Create your new message in Entourage, and go to Message/Add Attachments,
or press command-E).

The version of Office is X. I do know how to send an attachment. I am
trying to help out another user that is having a problem. When they
click on send the process gets about 95% done and then just hangs after
about 5 minutes, she says that she gets an error message and the excel
attachment will not go through. It is strange. I have even tried
sending an excel document starting from scratch with very little data,
2 or 3 cells. I have ran all the updates on the programs and that
still did not help. I have not seen this problem before.

It sounds like the problem may be with the outgoing mail server, in
which case it will have to be addressed on that end. Factors such as
ISP, connection speed, etc. could be factors.

System maintenance could also be involved. Have the Cron scripts been
run periodically? Have you tried Repairing Permissions? Are OS X *and*
Office X completely updated? What does the error message refer to?

Basically attachments are attachments. The email client doesn't care
what type of file is being attached, so something else is probably
involved. |:>)

Try looking at some different mail messages with attachments using
Entourage's Source. Mark the message in the List pane, open the View
menu and choose Source.

I never thought about this. I have been away from work for a few days
and won't be back until Friday. I will have to try that. I know I can
send plain text documents and I can send excel documents from other
computers but not the one that I need to. All updates have been done.
I will have to generate the error message again.
Thanks for all the ideas.
