Entourage changing my text

I've been trying to write the term HAS in an email and Entourage keeps
changing it to HAS. There it did it again. I can't even write H-S-A without
the dashes. Why the heck does this happen? I know what I want to write and I
just can't understand why Microsoft thinks I want to write something else.

Hi Art,

believe it or not, this is actually a feature, and it can be very useful. Go
to Tools and click on AutoCorrect (the same feature can also be found in
Word, by the way). Scroll down the list until you reach the entry "hsa",
click on it and delete it, if you don't want Entourage to replace this word
for you. AutoCorrect is based on the principle that when a certain word is
entered (usually misspelled words), the currently active Office application
will automatically replace it with a word that is defined in the AutoCorrect
list. While this is mostly used for correcting spelling mistakes, it can
also be used as some kind of AutoText entry, i.e. you can add new shortcuts
which will then expand into words or phrases of your choices. For instance,
you could specify that the letter combination "WKR" is replaced by "With
kind regards", which will save you time, depending on how many e-mails you
write. Have a look at Entourage's help and search for AutoCorrect to find
out more about this.

Thank you very much. I guess I'd like the ability, for those occasions when
Entourage (or Word, for that matter) wants to change a correct word, for me
to mark that word as correct. Leave the hsa -> has in the autocorrect list,
but on those times, like today when I tried to write Mellon HSA, to not
touch it in that case. Oh, well. I've been typing for something like 40
years. I very rarely use spell check. I'd never dug into the autocorrect
stuff. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Art

For one offs, hitting cmd-z will Undo the AutoCorrect and let you
continue typing.

Tools | AutoCorrect, uncheck "replace text as you type" will also turn
it off entirely.
