Apple G4, OS X.2 MS Entourage X (Office 10.0 no updates)
We know the data file is corrupt, but it won¹t even open to enable a rebuild
(Wont even ŒOption¹ Launch at startup). It is only abt 250MB, well under
the limit.
The error message it throws up is:-
³Error occurred launching. The Entourage Temp Folder could not be found.
It is likely you have a file or folder with the same name or an Alias that
doesn¹t point to the correct folder.²
No, the Temp folder is where it should be. No, removing the Temp folder
doesn¹t fix it. No aliases anywhere.
Went to http://www.entourage.mvps.org/error/page.html#error_tempfolder
It says:-
Error: Entourage Temp Folder is missing
Ensure that the ³Entourage Temp Folder² is located in the following path:
~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Entourage Temp Folder
"You need to be logged into the identity for which the ³~² represents. If
you find the folder in that location but you still can¹t open Entourage and
still receive the error, try removing and re-installing Office X. Insert the
Office X CD, then open the Value Pack. Click the Value Pack Installer. Check
Remove Office, then install. Run the Remove Office utility. Now, do a
drag-and-drop install of Office and try re-launching Entourage."
Two MS Office X reinstalls haven¹t fixed it. The Remove Office doesn¹t
really work, so did manual removals instead. Still no go.
Unfortunately the user was unaware the files in this area needed to be
archived. Any ideas?
