Entourage crashes unexpectedly when working with IMAP accounts

Hello everyone

I've got a problem with my Entourage X (10.1.4) on OS X 10.3.1 when trying
to use IMAP Mail-Accounts. Entourage quits unexpectedly from time to time
when checking for new mail. I've already tried to repair the database, set
up a second IMAP account on another server to see if it's a problem of the
account, deleted the identity and created a new one and checked the account
in Apple Mail. The same IMAP account used in Apple Mail works perfectly.
Entourage doesn't have problems with POP accounts but as soon as I add an
IMAP mailbox, the crashes occur again.

Has anyone got the same problem or even found a solution?

Others have reported that opening the progress window (if it's not already
open) and leaving it open fixes crashes on send.

I've found that since upgrading to Panther, Entourage 10.1.4 has been
relatively unstable, in that I will get unexpected crashes that I never used
to get under Jaguar. After the crash I get the message about reporting this
to Apple, which I do.

My crashes have not been happening when I have been sending - I have had
them in all sorts of circumstances other than that, like when deleting
e-mails, and swapping from one view to another, and even when Entourage has
been in the background.

Note: We got all sorts of hangs in Jaguar that we tracked down to bad data
in the account - once we created a new account on the Exchange Server with
only new data in it, and stopped using recurring appointments, things were
very stable.

There's bound to be something that Panther and Entourage don't agree on.
Someone at Apple and/or Microsoft has to work it out. Make sure you send in
those bug reports to Apple when it crashes.
