Entourage crashes when trying to Print messages

Hello,

I installed the latest update of Mac Office Mac 2004 (French version) a few
days ago.
When I downloaded and installed it for the first time, the installer stopped
before the end and displayed an error with ³German dictionary² (which I have
never used). I tried to use it anyway after the faulty installation and was
surprised to realize that all Office applications had disappeared,
including their Dock icons.

I then uninstalled Office completely with the un-Installer app that came
with it, re-installed a fresh version and immediately downloaded and
installed the latest update (11.3) which includes all previous updates.

Since then, I can¹t print with Entourage; it crashes all the time if I try
to. All other apps behave normally.

I am using all the latest updates of Mac OS X and Office.

Any suggestions?

Bonjour Denis ~ I unfortunately have become a PRINT maven due to challenges
with a new Canon laser printer.

To resolve the printing issues, it is necessary to go into page setup and
specify the printer and if only 1 printer SAVE AS DEFAULT. After 3
frustrating months of working with this printer it will NOW print all the
time.

Hello again,

I fixed the issue by reverting to an earlier version ³Identity². Now
printing works.

But later on, I got a message telling me the database was corrupted and
needed to be repaired.
I have had these messages previously from time to time in the last 3 weeks;
but almost never before since I use Office Mac (many years). My database is
not that big (252 MB).

Why is the database getting corrupted? What¹s the fix?

Hi,

there are many reasons for a database corruptions, and it's not always
exactly clear what's triggering them, but follow the instructions on this
website to rebuild your database.

I did not notice your earlier post, otherwise, I would have suggested
deleting the Printing Forms folder in ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data, as
these forms can get corrupted as well, and Entourage will automatically
create new ones from scratch if this folder is missing in the MUD folder
when it starts up.
