Entourage database corrupts often

T

Tom Bronga

I manage a mac school OS X network for teachers. I am migrating them to
OS X network accounts where they log in to an OS X 10.3 LDAP server for
computer access. I built a Entourage 2004 exchange account which is
located in their server home folder. The account usually works ok for a day
or so and then the user can not open Entourage,. The app won't open, one
bounce as it attempts to open and then nothing. The crash log doesn't
record a crash. There seems to be no clue of what is going on.
I've try these:
1. Repair the database
2. Rebuild the database.
3. Delete Entourage prefs.
4. Deleting the database.

After deleting the database, I can recreate a new Entourage account. But it
usually corrupts again. Any ideas?

Please reply to this message.
Thanks

There are some issues around the use of network home folders & Office 2004
that MS are aware of. It could be that you are hitting these problems.

Also, is it possible that the corruption occurs after the server shuts down
while users are still connected? It may be that the database daemon has
unwritten file buffers open that do not get saved to disk and so cause
corruption.
