Entourage database getting corrupted regularly?

What are the reasons why the Entourage database gets corrupted?
What are the fixes?

There appears to be a problem in 11.2.3 and later that you get a
message that the database is corrupt when it really isn't. This most
often happens a few hours right AFTER a database rebuild was done. If
you quit Entourage normally and reboot, your don't get the message
again and Entourage works fine. This has happened to me at least half a
dozen times, but finally quit happening a month ago. (I try to ebuild
my database every week.)

It is a very bad idea to use the rebuild functionality when it is not
needed. If you need space on your disk or you want to get the file into
contiguous space on your disk, go ahead and use compact. Only use rebuild if
your file is damaged. (tip provided by one of the Entourage developers)

It's not counter-intuitive when you consider what happens to your data in
the rebuild process. :)

So it is possible to compact without rebuiding?
I'm using Entourage X and can't find that option.
Hope you can help.

In vX the 'typical rebuild' is just a compact. Terminology was clarified in
v2004 from 'typical' & 'advanced' rebuild to 'compact' & 'rebuild'
