Entourage database is gone

J

JMcCall

I hope someone can help me. I was experimenting with the Export feature
as a way to back up my emails and database. I clicked through the
wizard but did not finish with a Save as I just wanted to see what it
was all about. Now my complete identity is gone. No address book, etc.
Can anyone help me find it?
Thanks,
Joan

First, go to the Entourage menu, select 'switch identities' and see if your
identity shows up there.

If not, in the Finder, do a search for files called "Database". The database
associated with your identity should be in a folder named the same as your
identity and this folder stored in the "Office 2004 Identities" folder in
your Microsoft User Data folder in Documents. If you find an entourage
database folder in any other place, recreate the correct location for it and
try switching identities again.

Quit Entourage. Go to desktop, file->find. Search everywhere for name
contains datbase. Click the size column and find the largest database file.
Click on it once. Look at the bottom of the search results window. That
tells you where it is. The Microsoft User Data (MUD) folder needs to be in
the documents folder for the currently logged in user
(/users/~currentuser/documents). Entourage will appear "empty" if it's not
in this location.
