Entourage Database Problems

My iMac crashed and has done bad things to my Entourage db, when i run
the verify DB it comes out fine, but starting Entourage I get 'cannot
acces your data try and rebuild'...problem is when i try and rebuild I
get another error...an i/o error occured...

Help!

How much free disk space do you have? Make sure you have enough hard disk
space available for twice size of your database. As part of the rebuilding
process, Entourage creates a second database file.

Hey Diane thanks for the reply...the db is 856 MB and i have 115 GB
free so that isn't a problem.

I/O errors normally indicate disk level corruption. Try running Disk First
Aid or some other disk utility to check the integrity of the disk system
first.

If the corruption has occurred in the sectors occupied by the database, you
may be out of luck :(

Thanks Barry, thats what I was afraid of, strange thing is I ran verify
disk on disk utility and the disk comes back fine...

Yeah, the tools built into disk utility are not particularly powerful. One
of the commercial offerings will probably give you better results.
