Entourage Database

I believe that I have lost the resource fork for my entourage database. I did
a backup using tar and now when the file is restored, entourage does not
recognize it as a database.
Does this sound like a correct diagnosis of the problem?
If so, is there a way to recover the database?

Assuming the database is in the right place, try the following.

Select the database in the Finder.
Select the Get Info command from the File menu (or press cmd-i).
In the Open With panel, select Microsoft Entourage. (You may have to select
Other... and navigate to Entourage through the file dialog.

That was one of my first thoughts, but I've tried it without success. Even
when told to open with entourage, it does not recognize it as an entourage
document.

Do you still have access to the original Identity on the old drive? If yes,
then drag it over and see if that works.
