Entourage Date Problem

L

Leo N Chettiar

Hi Friends,
I am a new convert from PC to Mac.

After a long option of exporting my email to entourage I was able to do it
by using Outlook2mac, great, but then is when the problem started.

Once I imported the MBOX file to Appple Mail and then to Entourage, I
noticed that the date & time stamping of the mail only in the Inbox folder
are of the day I actually imported the mails and whenever I received mails
it is of the current time i.e the time I am connected to server to download
and not as mentioned in header of the mail.

Emails are a very important to me and the date and time is good for
organized. Requesting mac users for help.

I have not used Outlook2mac, but why are you going through Apple's Mail
application? Is this the standard way to get your mail into Entourage?
Create a new Identity in Entourage and try importing your mail directly.
Does the problem still exist?

To get around the date problem, you can sort by Sent instead of Received.
That should show you the correct dates.

One other question, how did you get your mail from Apple Mail to Entourage?
Sorry to be so clueless, but we learn from experience and many of the MVPs
for Mac have never used a PC.

Thanks Diane,
Your solution to sort the mail on sent instead of received did help.
But I have an other problem, the mails I imported show me the date I
imported the mail into Entourage. I have download this scrip "Correct
the Date v.1" but when I run it says Invalid date & time, this problem
is noticed only in the Inbox, all the other folder it is shown
correctly.

I had to go to Apple Mail as I could not import the MBOX file directly
to Entourage. Once I got it into Apple Mail I went to Entourage and
used the import from program option.

That's Barry's script. I'll Cc him on this so he can help with the error.

Thanks for the explanation. When you haven't used a program it's hard to
know what to suggest. I don't have PC mail to import and test so I can
learn. MVPs are volunteers. We share our expertise with what we have learned
on our own. Much of troubleshooting is trial and error and learning from
other people's experiences.
