Entourage Difficulty Syncing with Gmail

I have been using Entourage to access my Gmail account via POP for
about 6 months. In the last 2 days, Entourage hangs up as soon as it
logs on to Gmail and won't make any progress thereafter.

I have not been able to find out anything about whether Gmail's POP
server is having issues, but I am getting increasingly frustrated.

I am using OSX 10.4.3 and Entourage version 11.22.1 (051004).

I'm not having any problems - try logging onto gmail through a Web browser
and clear any mail that has accumulated there - it could be a malformed
email causing problems.

I both did that and then also rechecked the configuration for my
outgoing mail port. For some reason, I had a different port specified
than Gmail currently requires (although I didn't change anything in the
last 3 days). I have no idea which solution caused it to now work, but
it now works and I'm happy. Thanks.

I'll chalk it up to random bug and thank you for your help.

Yes, this happened to me a month or so ago, although I also never
changed the port number in my Entourage settings. I'm not sure why it
happened, and it hasn't happened since, but I know what the first thing
I will check the next time it happens.

I seem to be having same issue you're having. I'm running the
Entourage version, w/ the same Mac OS.

i'm able to send outgoing mail. but i cannot receive mail unless I go
back into Gmail and refresh my POP settings. that seems to be the only
trigger that works. is anyone else having these issues??

here's what i do:
send mail from Entourage, mail is sent successfully
hit send/receive - nothing happens
go into Gmail, click on settings > Forwarding and POP > Enable POP for
all mail (even mail that's already been downloaded)
Save changes
send/receive in Entourage
receive mail successfully

this is the ONLY way i'm currently able to successfully receive mail.

my guess is that there are still issues with the pop.gmail.com server
with Gmail.

thoughts anyone???
