Entourage & disappearing internet "pie" wedge

I have Office X, Entourage (version 10.0.0). I have recenntly changed
my airport base station with an airport extreme base station. I notice
that while II am using my browser, In can see the pie shaped wedge in
the toolbar, but when I switch to Entourage it disappears completely
from sight. Often I'm still connected to the internet, but the iicon
disappears.

There is another problem, which I'm not sure is related. Often, when II
open the computer ( Powerbook G4) or awaken it from sleep mode, I have
been disconnected from the iinternet. I have to go into
Location>Network Preferences to reconnect. Even then I sometimes get a
error message. I have to do it a couple of times before it finally
reconnects.

Any ideas??

#1, if you are truly running version 10.0.0, you should install the 10.1.6
update. Do not pass Go, do not collect $244.24 CAD.

#2, the menu might disappear if there's not enough room in the menu bar. Do
you have a 12" PowerBook?

#3, how long are you letting the 'Book sleep for? If you're using a dialup
connection, you would probably be disconnected after a few minutes. If
you're using a DSL connection, it might be using PPPoE, which can time out
after a while of disuse. A router can be programmed to keep the connection
alive, or newer versions of Airport Base Station software will do the same.
