How frustrating. Every email going out to gmail or earthlink are sent
back, "invalid domain name." Anybody out there know what this is all
about?

For Gmail setup see:

Earthlink:

Go to Tools > Accounts, click the "Mail" tab, open your EarthLink account,
and check your settings:

Receiving mail: Account ID: [email protected]

Sending mail: SMTP server: smtpauth.earthlink.net - Click here for advanced
sending options

ˆ SMTP server requires authentication

ˆ Use same settings as receiving mail server

Okay, I can see I was no clear enough in my explanation. I do not
have an earthlink or gmail account. I am using ENTOURAGE as my mail
sender/receiver on my Mac.

BUT, whenever I try to send to my friends who have gmail or earthlink,
the email bounces back with "invalid domain name."

Thanks for anybody's help.

I have gotten the "invalid domain name" error when my SMTP information
was not set up correctly, and so I wasn't allowed to send. The error
message may be misleading.

Otherwise, ask your ISP. That's unlikely to be Entourage's fault,
sounds like something happening at server level.
