Entourage download to desktop

Hello. I would like to download my emails in the format they are on
in Entourage 2001 to the harddrive of my iMAC. I can create a folder
on the harddrive, but vital information in the header of the email
(who it's from, date, etc), does not show up when copying to folder.
Is there a way to copy all these emails to a folder on the harddrive
so I can put them on zip drive? I have highlighted them and dragged
them to a folder, but the header information doesn't appear. Any way
to do this? Tony

I'm not sure if this works in Entourage 2001, but in newer versions of
Entourage, you can simply drag a folder from the folder list to the desktop
to create a standard .mbox file which contains all your mail messages in
their entirety. An additional benefit is the fact that you can open these
..mbox files in almost any modern e-mail client.

What application are you using to view the files in that folder? If you
use a plain text editor to open the files in the folder, you should see
the entire message, including all the headers at the top.

Yep. Just kep in mind the MBOX file contains *all* of the emails in that
folder, concatenated, so viewing it with a text editor can be tedious.
Spotlight searching in MBOX files is tedious for the same reason.

If you want to access emails individually, dragging each individual
message to a folder works great - even for Spotlight searches.

You'll just have to choose which way you want it.

Yes, that is/was also possible with Entourage 2001.
