Entourage downloading 5-6 copies of each piece of email ?

Can anyone help me discover what may be causing this problem or how to
counteract it?

The last several days now, instead of just a single piece of email, I
consistently receive at least 5 or 6 copies of each piece of email as
it's received in my Entourage program. It doesn't seem to be
concerned with whether the mail comes to my original email address, or
is forwarded automatically from another application. They all arrive
with multiple copies.

This is usually server error. There are scripts that can help clear out the
duplicates.
