Hi, I was hoping that you could help me figure out what is going on with my Entourage. About twice a week when Entourage checks for new email, I have it set up to look every minute, it will download everything I have left on the server even though it downloaded it before and the mail is in my in-box. I have checked my settings and I am not sure what is going on because it doesn't happen each time... just a few times each week. Any advice?

Once a minute is pushing it. Your first schedule might not be complete when
the next schedule fires. I would set to a min of 2 minutes.

You must be a fast worker to need new mail so quickly. How do you manage
that?

I am having the same problem... i have found that changing the intervals of receiving new mail does not help this problem. It is very annoying and time consuming. I have spoke with our mail server provider and he has assured me it is not a problem on their end. It is a problem with Entourage. It is a big PAIN. I am considering switching to MAIL

if this is a POP account where you are using the 'leave mail on server'
setting, then do not expect mail.app to be much better. This sort of
behaviour is not how POP mail was intended to work and it is a kludge. A
subtle change on the server can cause mail clients to loose track of
what messages have been retrieved already, so they download it all
again. This is fairly common to all mail apps that let you leave POP
mail on the server.

Barry, that is not a good answer. Tell us how to fix it. I use Entourage on my work computer and Mail on my home computer. I have NEVER had this problem on Mail and they both have the same settings.

The 'fix' is to use IMAP rather than POP with mail left on server.

Maybe your experience is different, but I have experienced similar
effects using Entourage, mail.app and Eudora when using POP with mail
left on server.

My company runs Yahoo mail for small business and they don't give us the option for IMAP. Big pain.

In Entourage, open your Account. Do you have "leave on server" checked?

Send us screenshots of both your Mail and Entourage settings.

You can post a screenshot link using a service like ImageShack. ImageShack

I am having the same problem with Entourage and am very frustrated with this time consuming problem. I still don't know how to fix this and may have to change my email program if I can't get Entourage to stop downloading everything off the server! Does anyone have a solution to this?

Adding your problem to an existing thread is confusing. I don't know what
version of Entourage you are running or what type of account. Please start a
new thread and give more details. Thanks!!
