Entourage duplicates e-mail from server

I have my Entourage set to leave mail on the server as I download it to my business computer later. The first time I download everything is good but if I go back later after the computer goes to sleep or is shut off it will show the first download as read and deleted from the server and download another version of the same mail and show it as unread and still on the server. I have talked to my server people and they say there is only one version on the server. Any ideas on how to correct the problem?

Does your provider offer IMAP? POP is not ideal for multi-computer access as
it's easy for each computer to lose track of what the other has read.

IMAP is specifically designed for you to access and manage your email on
multiple computers.
